Your Hosts Rachel & Tracy
and the Beginning of the
Isn’t it Lovely? Podcast

The concept for “Isn’t it Lovely?” was formulated ten years ago at the beginning of a sister-like friendship between Tracy and Rachel. Both transplants to South Dakota, they found comfort, safety, and laughter in a friendship with each other that became a steady lifeline as the years served up both unspeakable loss and indescribable joy. Through it all, they always hoped they would one day collaborate on a project that would uplift and encourage others. After promptings from friends and family, as well as inspiration from the book of Philippians and its admonishment to meditate and focus on all that is LOVELY, the “Isn’t it Lovely?” Podcast was born.

Rachel Gage

Rachel

If Rachel could be summed up in a line from an early aughts’ movie, it would be Elf’s, “I just like to smile. Smiling’s my favorite!” Other favorites include iced lattes, hot yoga, travel adventures, accelerated emotional intimacy, authentic relationships, and her babies. She loves to listen to other people’s stories and dreams and hopes to always make them feel safe, loved, and encouraged. After a few years of adventures in investor and public relations, she followed her heart to working with teen girls, co-creating and developing the Operation Beauty initiative. She has a secret obsession with Sweet Valley High and was at the height of her fashion powers in the late 90’s when she wore patent leather Mary Janes on a daily basis.

Tracy

Tracy operates on island time. Now that we think of it, she’s probably 10 minutes late writing this bio. She’s hoping that digging deep into her enneagram number can help her with this. She graduated from Pepperdine University, lived in Los Angeles, and after getting too many parking tickets, moved to Denver where she pursued her MBA. In a major plot twist, she fell deeply in love with a boy from South Dakota and now finds herself married to that boy and living on the actual prairie as a bird watcher and a mother of three. She enjoys a well-appointed taco, gardening, learning from the wonders of people’s stories, rich relationships, sassy memes, and finding God in the gentle whispers of life.

“But oh! the blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly on any subject; with whom one's deepest as well as one's most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort - the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person - having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away.” ~ Dinah Craik
